About this file

This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19) naval ship repair and maintenance project, specifically focusing on cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and preserving the CHT Tank No. One (8-48-0-W). The TGI details a comprehensive maintenance procedure scheduled from January 12, 2026, to May 15, 2027, involving commercial blast cleaning, visual inspection, structural repairs, zinc anode replacement, and preservation of the tank and associated spaces. Critical requirements include welding repairs to total one linear foot of deteriorated welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, replacement of 10 square feet of deteriorated plate, and installation of new zinc anodes and studs.

The document includes several appendices with job summary information, material lists, and a deficiency form template. Special requirements note potential lead and asbestos hazards, and mandate a non-flammable closure for fire zone boundary work. The project will be executed at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka Naval Base, with support services provided by SRF-JRMC (Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center). The work is part of a larger 47-task ship repair and overhaul effort, with specific technical and quality assurance requirements for the contractor to manage labor, coordination, safety, and environmental considerations.
