ROUND 7

MACC FA9401-12-R-0002

The purpose of this document is to provide answers to RFP questions for Solicitation

FA9401-12-R-0002.

120. Regarding the Anechoic Chamber:

• The design analysis package 33 requires a 30’x30’ chamber 6’ deep; will the 6’ be below the finished floor requiring a depressed slab in that area?

• What are the properties of the chamber in regard to wall thickness and finishes?

• Is the floor finish in the chamber the same as the lab space?

• Will a separate ceiling be required for the chamber?

• If a ceiling is required will it be removable?

ANSWER: The 6' depth of the pit is to be measured from finish floor. The anechoic chamber will be furnished and installed by others. Chamber properties are not available at this time. Chamber finishes, whether floor or ceiling, are not available at this time.

121. Regarding the 5” thick non-ionizing radiation shield:

• What are the properties of the shield i.e. lead brick, lead lined concrete block, etc?

• The diagram in the design analysis illustrates the x-ray shield extending 30’ to 50’ beyond the laboratory staging area. Will the shield be required to extend beyond the building addition?

• Will a shield need to be added to the 2,885 square foot area being added to the laboratory from the existing building.

ANSWER: The 5" thick shield will be furnished and installed by others. It's properties are indeterminate at this time.

122. Is there a requirement for edited UFGS design specifications for the purpose of the 30% design of seed project?

ROUND 7

124. The RFP states that drainage of existing storm water is collected and handled through a gutter system and diverted naturally to the storm ponds. The new building is larger than five thousand square feet and will be added at zero edge to the existing building thereby removing the gutter runoff system. Will we be asked to include the runoff in our new diversion plan section 438 ESA or are we allowed to reroute the gutter system and let it drain naturally.

ANSWER: The existing roof drainage may be re-routed to its historic flow path, and need not be included in the EISA diversion plan.

125. On the existing site analysis the fire access road states that it may need to be relocated.

How should we price this?

ANSWER: The “fire access road” refers to a graded easement around the building to allow fire truck activity near the building. It is not a “road” as such. The contractor will be expected to grade an area around the addition that will re-establish the continuity of this easement.

126. On the job walk we were shown the HVAC unit from outside the building. This unit is to be relocated. We were unable to view the ducting for type and size. Is there a preferred location for the unit relocation? Is there any remediation of materials involved?

ANSWER: There is no preferred location for the relocation at this time. This will be resolved during design. There are no known remediation efforts required to relocate the unit or tie back into the existing duct system.

127. The gas connection for the HVAC is currently in the path of the footprint for the addition. Are we to reroute the existing feed from its current location or feed from the new meter for the addition?

ANSWER: The gas line must be rerouted. It cannot be beneath the building.

128. The Attachment 33 page 10 states that the fire sprinkler and fire protection systems will expand into the existing storage area and tie to the existing system. Will there be one main fire riser for all the buildings and the piping tied to that location. Has a tie in location for the riser been established or are there as civil as-builts that can be reviewed prior to bid time? Will there be one master fire alarm panel with remote annunciators and is the master panel able to handle the expansion or a new master required?

Solicitation FA9401-12-R-0002

10 April 2012

ROUND 7

ANSWER: The fire suppression system will not be required to include, or tie-into, fire suppression within the existing building. A new fire riser and BFP must be provided. The new riser must be sized to allow sprinkler extension into the remainder of the building at a later date, by others. The fire alarm system must be tied to the existing panel near the front entry to the existing building on the West side. There is available capacity for this in the existing panel.

129. The Attachment 33 page eleven talks about phased construction and tying into the addition. Are we to assume that the costs associated with this works is to be included in the original proposal. Should the elevation of the existing building floor be the set point for the new addition floor to provide a level transition?

ANSWER: The expansion into existing areas will be accomplished under separate contract at a later date. The floor elevation of the new addition should match the floor elevation of the existing building.

130. Will there be a shield wall required at the ANECHOIC chamber and if so what are the dimensions?

ANSWER: A shield wall is not required.

131. The RFP asks for a bridge crane and is priced under an additive bid line item. Is the building design and structural to be incorporated under the main proposal to support the bridge crane regardless if the crane is purchased or not? There would be two different loadings and foundation also steel erection and ancillary work provide ie. Electrical feed, MEP coordination and such. Should the crane only include price for unit and install?

ANSWER: The building should be designed to accommodate the bridge crane, regardless of the acceptance or non-acceptance of the bridge crane alternate. The alternate should include the cost for unit purchase and installation only.

132. The Attachment 33 page 18 states that the total projected power for this project is

2MW. Is the future power requirement going to be and additional Service Entrance

Section (SES) or incorporated into one SES for the addition.

ANSWER: The 2MW requirement includes the power requirement listed in attachment 37.
