ROUND 6
94. What is the purpose of the general exhaust system?
ANSWER: Indeterminate.
95. The documentation indicates that “process systems requirements have not yet been determined”. Will there be a process requirement for this space?
ANSWER: Process systems requirements have not yet been determined. That is still the case.
96. What is “Laboratories” vs. “Utility Areas” when considering that the addition is a one room addition?
ANSWER: The addition may be considered a "Laboratory."
97. There is a pad-mounted switch/sectionalized near an electrical manhole on the north side of the building, labeled “211A244”. Please describe the contents of this enclosure, with the possible intent of primary connection here. Please describe the size of both transformers and services that serve the building.
ANSWER: There are 2 connection points for the new 2mva transformer by Bldg 909..
The first is Z10244, It is currently feeding 2 transformers on the SW corner of 909..
There are no spare 200A connection points unless the new transformer feeds the existing load of one of the existing transformers, otherwise this Z-box would need to be replaced by a new one with 3-200A connection points..
The second is Z11244, It is currently feeding 1 load consisting of a single Z-box supplying 3 transformers, one of them is the newest 1500kva transformer.. It has no spare
200A connection points so it would also need replaced with a new Z-box consisting of 2-
200A connection points.. Both of these proposed connection points are fed from Sub
24A, Fdr 4, which currently has a load of 55 amps and a capacity of 600 amps..
98. Attachment 7, pages 72-74 of 77, lists the applicable UFC requirements, but does not mention any 3-500 series electrical UFCs. Please confirm that UFC 3-501 Electrical
Engineering, UFC 3-520 Interior Electrical Systems, UFC 3-530 Lighting, UFC 3-550
Exterior Electrical, and similar are required design/installation criteria.
ANSWER: The design must comply with all applicable codes and regulations. If the
Engineer of Record determines that this facility meets the criteria that bring it under the control of a particular UFC, then it is the responsibility of that individual to properly apply that code, document it in the construction documents and DA for the project, and submit it for review. A final confirmation of which codes apply to this project will arise from that process. Please consult the following web site for more information:

ANSWER: There are no additional load types.
100. The Base Bid requirements appear to include the installation of 2MW fullcapacity power service. Please confirm the Alternate requirements include only the additional devices in Attachment 37, and not front end power service size capacity.
ANSWER: Confirmed.
101. Please advise whether the electrical additive alternate (per Attachment 37) includes breakers only, or also feeder circuits/step-down transformers/etc.
ANSWER: See the answer to Question No.73, above.
102. Where do we connect for the additional power required for Alt # 2
ANSWER: Power for Alt #2 will connect at the new panel.
103. Is the D/B contractor required to install sprinkler piping within the anechoic chamber? If so, are there any prohibitions on piping material?
ANSWER: The D/B contractor will not be required to install sprinkler piping into the anechoic chamber.
104. The RFP indicates that the need for a fire pump should be evaluated by the D/B contractor after award. However, a fire pump is a costly unknown, so it may be preferred to provide a recent a flow test. Is a recent flow test available?
ANSWER: A flow test has been included in the RFP as attachment 35.
105. The RFP requires the existing building’s fire alarm system to be extended to the new addition, but the RFP does not mention mass notification systems.
Is a mass notification system required for the new addition?
ANSWER: Standard notification devices will be required per code. No additional notification will be required.

ROUND 6
106. Does the containment trench in the building have any connection to the site sewers (sanitary or storm)?
107. Do the EISA section 438 requirements apply to the addition only or to the entire site? In other words, are we retrofitting the existing site to comply with the EISA law which was passed in 2007?
ANSWER: The EISA requirements apply to the project area only, and not the entire facility/site.
108. Where are the existing fire hydrants? What is the distance to the closest fire hydrant to the farthest point of the addition? Will there be a new fire department connection for the addition?
ANSWER: See the attached aerial photograph for FH Locations.
109. The RFP mentions detention basins to the south of the site. Are there any storm sewers from this site that drain into the basins or are all drainage overland flow into the basin? What are the dimensions/depth of the basins?
ANSWER: There are no storm sewers connecting the site to the detention basins. The site currently drains overland to these basins. The dimensions and depth will be established during design.
110. Is the anechoic chamber part of the equipment to be constructed, or do we just build the pit for the chamber?
ANSWER: Chamber will be furnished and installed by others.
111. What is the loading on walls of the anechoic chamber, and are hand rails, and metal grates needed for fall protection?
ANSWER: This information is not available at this time. There will likely be metal grating required to cover the trench.
