Transportables
• Welcome, before we begin the tour I would like to ask all of you to refrain from asking questions verbally. If you have any questions please write them down and submit them to Lt Dan Beckett utilizing the question submission form prior to 7 March 2014. We will review all questions and respond in writing to all parties by DD MMM. Also as we walk through the transportable, please refrain from wandering outside of the immediate area. Please, no beverages inside the trailers.
• My name is Capt Nuttall and I will be walking you through our transportable today. The Purpose of the transportable is to augment the AFSCN in case of a contingency situation, failure in the network, or other actions that could cause degradation in the network. The secondary purposes of these systems are to provide Factory Compatibility Testing for the user community.
We will be touring the TRBC which consists of 3 vans, and we will talk about the TVCF which consists of 2 vans.
• TRBC is our newest transportable system; it consists of 3 vans, a Core electronics van, a High Power Amplifier Van, and an Antenna platform.
o The Core van contains the core electronics for RBC, and an operators console.
o The HPA van contains the RBC HPA, the wave guide system, and will contain a USB HPA in the near future.
o The Anenna platform is a 7.2 Meter, 3 axis antenna, that contains a hydraulic unit to raise and lower the antenna, the antenna itself is ran by 2 electric motors.
• Deployment of this system will be a level 2 requirement, as would be the maintenance during storage. Deployment would consist of transportation to the affected site, set up, and checkout prior to turning it over to the site for operations. Level 2 will also be required to deploy and set up for Factory Compatibility Testing, which only requires the core van.
• Upon completion of turnover, Level 1 maintenance will be responsible for operations and maintenance of the TRBC during its deployment. At the completion of the deployment, Level 2 will return to the RTS, checkout, pack up and transport the TRBC back to the storage facility.
• TVCF is a transportable ARTS system, and will be utilized much in the same role as TRBC, but will be replaced by TRBC as the primary Transportable for AFSCN. TVCF consists of 2 vans, a Core electronics van and an Antenna van.
o The Core electronics van contains the ARTS core electronics and an operators console o The Antenna van contains the 23ft, 2 axis antenna and the HPA enclosure.
• TVCF may be utilized for FCT in the next few years, but is expected to be decommissioned within the next 2 years.
• Deployment will be the same Level 1 and Level 2 responsibilities as TRBC.
• That concludes the tour of the repair lab and warehouse. As a reminder, if you have any questions please be sure to write them down utilizing the question submission form and submit them to Lt. Dan Beckett prior to 7 March 2014. We will review all questions and post the answers on the FedBizOpps website at a later date.
