SUBJECT: Interim Hazard Classification for FLARE, IRCM, 1X1 KINEMATIC, MJU-76/B, DODIC LA88, NSN 1370016776009, P/N 201825310, Log No. H23-208, Request ID 1155, IHC/RDTE/FHC

Reference: Interim Hazard Classification Log No. H23-208 supersedes Log No. H22-204

1. Subject item will be shipped on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD). Subject item was manufactured by Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA). Subject item contains Magnesium/Teflon/Viton Flare Grain and Magnesium/Teflon/Viton Ignition Pellet. This Interim Hazard Classification (IHC) is valid for one year and will expire on 20-AUG-2024.

2. The IHC for the subject item is as follows.

DOD Hazard Class/Division/SCG/SG: 1.3G DOT Proper Shipping Name: FLARES, AERIAL UN Serial Number: UN0093 DOT Label: EXPLOSIVES 1.3G Net Explosive Weight/Item: 0.1256 lbs (0.056971 kg)

Packaging must be in accordance with 49 CFR 173.62, Packing Instruction 135, dated 1-Oct-2022.

3. This Interim Hazard Classification is issued in accordance with T.O. 11A-1-47, as authorized by reference DOT Special Permit (SP) 15448. This Interim Hazard Classification is valid for one year from the date of this letter. A copy of this letter and the Special Permit must be carried aboard each conveyance transporting the subject item. A copy of SP 15448 can be found at:

4. This IHC does not relieve the shipper from complying with all other hazardous material requirements of 49 CFR.
