About this file
This CFD analysis report details simulations conducted for the Main Computer Room of the VA medical center in Bonham, Texas. The analysis examined using two 70kW CRAC units running at half capacity to cool data center equipment operating at full load in the room, which had an initial temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Over roughly four minutes of transient simulation, the average room temperature dropped to 68 degrees Fahrenheit, with inlet temperatures to racks ranging from 62 to 74 degrees Fahrenheit and outlet temperatures from 81 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit. The simulation determined that two units at half capacity were sufficient to cool the space and equipment.
The related federal contract opportunity is for construction services for EHRM improvements at the Bonham, Texas VA medical center, with a solicitation number of 36C77624B0007_1. The opportunity was issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Technology Acquisition Center located in Austin, Texas.

Summary
DESCRIPTION
This report contains the results and images from a CFD simulation of the Main Computer Room
(MCR) for the VA medical center in Bonham, TX. This report displays the findings from a simulation of a MCR using of two 70kW CRAC units at half capacity to cool data center equipment running at full load. The initial temperature of the room was set to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. This was a transient analysis that ran for roughly 4 minutes. At the end of the 4 minutes the average room temperature was 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Inlet temperatures into the racks ranged from 62 degrees Fahrenheit to 74 degrees Fahrenheit. Outlet temperatures out of the racks ranged from
81 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit. The simulation found that two units running at half capacity were sufficient in cooling the space and the equipment.
