About this file
This Performance Work Statement (PWS) outlines pavement clearance services for a naval installation, with a primary focus on sweeping various paved surfaces including roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and airfield pavement areas. The specification covers recurring and non-recurring work related to pavement maintenance, with specific emphasis on removing volcanic ash deposits from Mt. Etna eruptions and ensuring clear, safe surfaces. Key requirements include using specialized airfield-certified vacuum sweepers for airfield surfaces, obtaining proper clearances from airfield operations, and complying with FAA and Department of Defense safety regulations.
The contractor must meet stringent operational standards, including maintaining paved surfaces in accordance with specified Service Level Standards, minimizing disruptions to facility operations, and coordinating closely with government authorities. Personnel must obtain specific certifications, such as an airfield driver's license and completing the Airfield Vehicle Operators Course. Equipment restrictions mandate rubber-tired vehicles, and all work must adhere to safety protocols outlined in various advisory circulars. The contract allows for both scheduled sweeping services and potential service orders for additional pavement clearance work, with performance measured against detailed operational requirements and safety standards.
