About this file
This is a Data Item Description (DID) that establishes requirements for Computer Software Product End Items acquired by the Department of Defense. The document, numbered DI-AVCS-80700A, was approved on June 19, 2017, and supersedes the previous DI-MCCR-80700 standard.
The DID specifies that contractors must deliver software product end items in formats suitable for review and maintenance throughout the software lifecycle, including development, operation, and maintenance phases. Three key requirements govern deliverables: (1) Content—the specific documentation and software forms (documentation, source code, object code, or executable files) must be identified on the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) DD Form 1423; (2) Media—the physical or digital media used for delivery shall be specified on the CDRL; and (3) Format—the storage, retrieval methods, and all computer compatibility requirements shall be detailed on the CDRL. All specifications are contractor-determined based on individual contract requirements rather than prescribed by this DID, making the CDRL the controlling document for defining exact deliverable parameters.
