III - Executive Summary
i. Inspection Summary
The R21 Cambria tower located in Cambria, CA was inspected on July 28, 2016 by SiteMaster, Inc. crew members. The structure is a 100’ self supporting tower. The overall condition of the tower structure was found to be fair-to-satisfactory with a few maintenance items noted. Unrelated to the tower’s condition: there are some equipment items in the compound (generator and electrical box on shelter) which have a heavy amount of rust.
ii. Structural Members
The structural members of the tower were in good condition. There was no rust present on the tower steel. However, tower leg A’s foundation—the same leg as the safety climb—is covered in rust due to run-off from the rusty safety climb and will need to be scraped and cold galvanized. All hardware was tight and none was found to be missing.
The structural steel of the tower was free of deviations and in good condition. All hardware throughout the tower was either anchor nut or double nut secured. The tower foundations appeared to be in good condition (apart from the aforementioned rust on tower leg A’s foundation) and showed no signs of cracking. The tower galvanization is still in good condition.
iii. Alignment and Twist
A visual inspection of the tower showed that it appeared to be plumb.
