About this file

This is a technical specification document for cast-in-place concrete work prepared for Bristol Township's 2026 Road Paving, Inlet Replacement, and Curb Ramp Program in Pennsylvania. The specification covers plain cement concrete curbs, concrete curb ramps, and sidewalks as part of a comprehensive roadway improvement project. The work includes milling, base repair, leveling course, manhole rim adjustments, inlet design and replacements, wearing course installation, and ADA/PennDOT-compliant curb ramp installation with associated sidewalks, curbing, utility adjustments, and sign relocation at multiple locations throughout Bristol Township. All material, labor, and equipment requirements conform to PennDOT Publication 408 and Township Standards, with concrete delivery and quality control managed in accordance with ACI 301 standards and related ASTM specifications.

The specification establishes detailed product and construction requirements including cement type (ASTM C150 Type I), concrete aggregates (ASTM C33), air entrainment for exterior exposed work, and concrete mix proportions per ACI 301 Method 1 with applicable Class A or Class AA concrete as required. Concrete placement, finishing, curing, and protection procedures are mandated in accordance with ACI 304, with broom finish requirements and field quality control testing directed by the Design Engineer. The contractor must notify the Engineer minimum 24 hours prior to concrete placement operations and provide free access for inspection and quality assurance activities. Defective concrete not conforming to specified lines, details, dimensions, tolerances, or requirements must be repaired or replaced as directed by the Engineer, with patch work and form tie removal completed using non-shrink grout to provide smooth finishes.
