About this file

This is a technical specification document for ADA detectable warning surface installation as part of Bristol Township's 2026 Road Paving, Inlet Replacement, and Curb Ramp Program in Pennsylvania. The work encompasses the installation of ADA and PennDOT-compliant detectable warning surfaces at specified locations throughout the township. The detectable warning tiles must be manufactured by a PennDOT Bulletin 15-approved manufacturer and comply with ADA regulations. The tiles are polymer composite units composed of epoxy polymers with aluminum oxide particles in truncated domes, measuring 24 inches in width with a face thickness of 0.1875 inches (±5% maximum), and featuring a brick red color. Tiles must be embedded cast-in-place type and installed across the full width of ramps at grade breaks near street edges. Installation must be performed according to manufacturer recommendations and without creating tripping hazards. All tiles must be protected from damage during the construction period.

Contractors must demonstrate a minimum of five years of experience with tile installations and submit certifications that all tiles meet or exceed designated specifications, along with a list of similar projects and a resume for the project superintendent establishing their qualifications. The manufacturer must provide a five-year written guarantee covering defective work, breakage, deformation, and tile loosening from the date of final completion. All material, labor, and equipment necessary for the project must comply with PennDOT Publication 408 and Township Standards as outlined in the broader curb ramp program documentation.
