About this file
This document contains a question and response regarding bird control requirements for a renovation and improvement construction project at the Long Island National Cemetery. The solicitation is seeking bids for facility renovations, improvements, and repairs at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York. The statement of work involves furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to perform the work described in the specifications and drawings. Bird spikes are not required to be reinstalled at the committal shelters, as the areas will be closed up with wood panels and trim to prevent birds from landing or nesting. No other areas of the project require new bird spikes according to the response. The Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration is the agency issuing this solicitation.

QUESTION?
We were invited to bid on this project; however we are unable to find any bird control involved in the plans other than the removal of bird spikes. Please let us know if we missed something and/or if the bird spikes are to be re-installed. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!
ANSWER:
Bird spikes are not to be re-installed at the committal shelters; only existing spikes are to be removed.
We are closing up the areas where birds can land and/or nest with wood panels and trim, see details of new work. As far as I know there are no areas of the project that require new bird spikes.
