` 815CM3041 Long Island National Cemetery Reno and Improvement Construction Project, responses to PRFI#05
1. Please share information regarding well pump supply intake set depth. We had received inquiries from multiple specified manufacturers on well pump set depth. Contractor has reviewed the bid documents and has not been able to locate any information on the well pump set depth. This information is needed as the intake of the water needs to be set below the “driest” level of the water table.
Referencing the various boring hole reports (Reference: “APPENDIX I ‐ Geotechnical Report”) show boring depth of 10’‐0”. It does not call out current water table. The previous nearby well locations
(ref: “APPENDIX I ‐ Geotechnical Report”) were dated from 1985, which is close to over (40) ago.
These reference offers very outdated information. The set depth also impacts cost of the actual well pump equipment.
The pump should be placed 20 feet above the cased section of the well. The base of the casing has been estimated to be 350 feet below ground surface, although it is important to note that this is an estimate and the actual depth will be dictated by site-specific conditions. The water level within the existing well is unknown to ECS but is estimated to be 30-50 feet below ground surface.
2. Refer to detail 9/LS‐402, the detail of guide rail is given but it is not shown on the drawings. Please clarify the extent of guide rail or provide quantity for bidding purpose.
Guide Rail is located at the new well head/control spool enclosure. Refer to LS-310.
3. Please confirm the below mentioned queries regarding water well pump shown on drawing I‐101:
a‐ Will water well pump be an oil lube pump? If yes, then what will be shaft size, tube size, right or left handed thread?
Not oil lubricated. Water lubricated, as specified and drawn.
b‐ Please confirm threaded column?
Contractor’s discretion.
c‐ Does the bowl assembly and discharge head need to be coated? If so what coating, will it need to be NSF certified?
no coating required d‐ What will be the column setting or total pump length?
The pump will likely be placed approximately 20 feet above the base of the casing. The actual depth to the base of the casing will be dependent on site-specific conditions, as determined through the collection of cuttings samples and borehole geophysical logging. The casing is presently estimated to be 350’.
4. Refer to drawing AE‐621, keynote 01 says to provide new ship lap siding on new framing above interior walls, beams, and columns to underside of existing ceiling. Please provide technical specification for shiplap siding.
Siding to match what is existing in profile, material, and finish.
5. Please confirm the below mentioned queries regarding irrigation well:
a‐ What is specific capacity of well?
The specific capacity of the existing well is unknown, as testing has not been performed and inadequate operational information is available to make this determination.
b‐ Well location may need to be shifted for adequate setup of rig and equipment. Please clarify?
The well should be installed at the general area indicated on bidding documents. The actual location within this general area should be coordinated between the COR and the contractor.
c‐ Please confirm if three observation wells into the same aquifer as the new irrigation well are required (as per Attachment 2)?
A response from DEC to the permitting application has not yet been received. It is expected that that the response will include minimum observation requirements for the pumping test. It is assumed that it will be necessary to monitor water levels in the nearby existing irrigation well but that it will not be necessary to install additional observation wells.
6. Refer to drawing AE‐805, furniture schedule shows storage shelving of HCU‐X models from “EDSEAL” that are no longer in production as per specified vendor. Please provide some alternate models for these storage shelving?

Hallowell’s Extra Heavy Duty Solid Steel, Stand-alone, Boltless, 5-Shelf line or others. Match dimensions, shelf quantity, minimum loading, or others.
7. Refer to drawing LS‐409, detail 4 shows attic stock for sign posts. Please clarify if extra helical piles are required for these posts?
No attic stock required for helical piles.
8. Refer to drawing LS‐410, tagged notes show “Wet‐Cast Stone” Masonry Base for sign posts, whereas these are being shown as “Cast‐In‐Place” Reinforced Concrete Base. Please confirm if the base is cast‐ in‐place reinforced concrete base?
Sign bases throughout project are designed as a steel reinforced wet cast stone units to be mechanically anchored to helical piles with patched anchor holes. See spec section 04 72 00. Shop drawings of signage assemblies that include piles, anchors, cast stone base units, sign posts, and signs will be required for VA NCA review.
