815CM3041 Long Island National Cemetery Reno and Improvement Construction Project, responses to PRFI #04R
1 Scope 14 – The attached scope states to jet/vacuum all curb inlets, pipes and infiltration vaults. The existing catch basin, piping and vaults are not clearly identified on the plans and in order to bid for this to be a fair bid it should not be left open to interpretation. Please provide a total amount of structures that require cleaning, a total LF of piping, and a total amount of “infiltration vaults”.
300 – 3’x3’ inlet structures to be jetted and vacuumed with a total of 100 cubic yards of material to be disposed of. Material can be dumped in spoils area at the cemetery.
300 – 8’ diameter infiltration vaults to be jetted and vacuumed with a total of 280 cubic yards of material to be disposed of. Material can be dumped in spoils area at the cemetery.
50 – 4’ diameter man holes to be jetted and vacuumed with a total of 25 cubic yards of material to be disposed of. Material can be dumped in spoils area at the cemetery.
2,400 total linear feet of storm pipe to be jetted.
Contractor is to assume the quantities above for their construction cost proposal. Proposal shall clearly indicate unit costs for this work which will include general contractor’s costs/overhead and profit markups. Quantities to be verified by contractor during construction operations, contract modifications may be required based on actual work required/completed.
2 “Infiltration Vaults” – please provide more detail. What is the size of the existing vaults and how many are there? At the site there is no way to access such vaults and this information is crucial to estimating the amount of disposal of material required to be removed.
See answer to question 1 above.
3 Project Manual, General Requirements, Page 20, Section D: Irrigation Wells – This section of the spec book asks that the work involving the Irrigation Well be subdivided into 27 different line item costs. There is nothing shown on the actual bid sheets showing these line items separated. Are we required to provide this breakdown? If we are required to include this breakdown, does failing to provide the breakdown disqualify the bid? Please advise.
Cost detail required for this high cost work to ensure well driller qualification and all associated work is included in the cost proposal, See Specification section 01 00 02, paragraph 1.2-A.1.d.
4 The drawings call for a tie into the existing fire alarm system but don’t specify what that existing system is. Could you provide a name & contact info?

5 Is the low-voltage equipment provided by the electrical contractor or a separate vendor for security or telecom? We will need the manufacturer and catalog numbers to provide a quote if we are providing it, as they are not listed in the drawings/spec There are the attached pages we are referring to; we need to know “Is the electrical contractor providing the low voltage equipment or is that by a separate security, telecom vendor? If we are providing, the drawings/specs don’t list a manufacturer or catalog numbers. We will need this info to quote.”
