About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) Log for a federal construction contract (36C24726R0026) under the VISN 7 Construction MATOC for Seed Project 3 at Tuskegee VA Medical Center. The document contains 343 clarification questions and government responses addressing scope, technical requirements, and administrative details for a door and frame replacement project across multiple buildings.
The project scope encompasses replacing fire-rated doors, frames, hardware, thresholds, and associated electrical/security systems at numerous locations throughout the facility to correct egress deficiencies and achieve code compliance with NFPA 101. Key requirements include: all fire-rated assemblies must be UL-listed and labeled; flexible metal conduit supports must comply with NEC 356.30; exterior egress doors require new hollow metal frames with positive-latching locksets; replacement thresholds must meet ADA accessibility standards; electromagnetic door hold-open devices must interface with the existing fire alarm system (Johnson Controls/Simplex); access control integration must work with the existing Avigilon system; and all work must maintain facility operations with phased execution coordinated through VA approval. The contractor is responsible for providing complete and operable systems including electrical work, firestopping, wall repairs and painting, hazardous material coordination, temporary ICRA containment barriers, and all associated hardware and security components. The project requires a dedicated Site Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, and Safety and Health Officer with no shared duties; after-hours/weekend work is required for facility shutdowns; and all modifications to door assemblies after UL labeling require VA COR direction. Abatement of lead paint and asbestos is not included in base pricing but shall be handled as differing site conditions if encountered. The document does not specify contract value, award date, or final completion timeline beyond noting the project is scheduled for award during the current fiscal year with NTP expected within 30 days of award.
