About this file

This is a shop inspection materials, products, and equipment exhibit for a Miscellaneous Construction via Job Order Contracting (JOC) Request for Proposal issued by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). The document establishes comprehensive inspection requirements for materials and fabricated items to be incorporated into facility repair, alteration, and minor new construction projects at LAX and VNY. LAWA anticipates awarding JOC contracts up to a combined value of $6,000,000 with an expected three-year contract term. The exhibit provides detailed specifications for shop inspection protocols across numerous material and equipment categories, including metal fabrications, electrical equipment, HVAC systems, concrete products, coatings, and mechanical equipment, with 37 numbered notes clarifying inspection requirements and exemptions for specific item types.

The document establishes that contractors bear responsibility for providing only materials and fabricated items that fully comply with contract documents and all inspection and testing requirements, regardless of specific shop inspection notations. Critical inspection requirements apply to welded ferrous or non-ferrous metals, high-strength bolting with ASTM A-325 or A-490 bolts, reinforced concrete products, specified protective coatings, electrical equipment rated at 600 volts and higher, and HVAC components. Certain standardized or catalog items, including flexible ductwork, fixed windows, galvanized sheet metal ductwork, and pre-fabricated assemblies meeting nationally recognized quality standards such as UL Listing or ISO-9001-2000, are exempt from shop inspection. Physical and chemical testing required by specifications must be performed by approved testing laboratories or the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Standards.

Without waiving any specific requirement of the Contract Documents, the following items of equipment and/or material are examples of, but are not limited to, those items that are subject to shop inspections.
