The spreaders must be hydraulic-powered, 5:1 gearbox, under-the-tailgate type, capable of spreading material from both sides of the trough. They must be compatible with IDOT's existing hydraulic system, including a "load-sense" hydraulic pump with electronic "closed-loop" spreader control. The spreaders must be constructed of U.S. domestic 201 austenitic stainless steel or equivalent, with a minimum 7-gauge trough and 1/4" thick end plates. The spreaders must include an "easy cleanout" trough design and a full-width, full-length hinged cover plate. The auger, spinner assemblies, hydraulic motors, and other components must meet detailed technical specifications. Bidders must provide a completed questionnaire, descriptive literature, and other documentation with their bid responses.
Pricing is not specified, but the spreaders must meet minimum feed rate requirements of 5-7 lbs of salt per auger revolution. Type:
Hydraulic-powered, 5:1 gearbox, under-the-tailgate type spreader, capable of spreading material from both sides of the trough at the control of the operator. These spreaders must be designed and constructed for mounting on standard IDOT 5 cu. yd. and 9 cu. yd. dump bodies.
Complies: |_| Yes |_| No The spreader shall be provided with a right (curb) side spinner in “addition to” the left (street) side spinner. This configuration shall include all hardware and controls to make both sides fully functional. The right spinner shall be a mirror image of the left. The additional spinner shall meet the same criteria as specified for the left. Anti-flow plate placement and auger shall allow the operator to spread material left or right. Auger flighting shall be per manufacturer’s recommendation for a dual spinner application.
Complies: |_| Yes |_| No
| Describe configuration: |
The spreader shall be equipped with a single point connection Hydraulic Interlock device to positively prevent hydraulic pressure from reaching the auger motor when the top cover, bottom trough door or guard cover are opened beyond the normal operating position. See picture attached for reference.
The Hydraulic Interlock for spreaders protects operators in two areas of the spreader:
· The cleanout trough at the bottom of the spreader cannot be opened until the motor hydraulic pressure hose has been disconnected, a lever is actuated to allow the trough to open and prevent pressure hose to be reconnected. This prevents the auger from turning when the trough is open.
· The top cover cannot be opened beyond 90° of horizontal until the motor hydraulic pressure hose described above has been disconnected and lever actuated to allow the top cover to open, lay flat or be removed. This prevents the auger from turning when the cover is being opened beyond 90°.
Complies: |_| Yes |_| No The spreader assembly shall be constructed using U.S. Domestic 201 austenitic stainless steel or equivalent corrosion resistant U.S. Domestic non-magnetic stainless steel. A copy of Certification of Compliance shall be included with spreaders delivered to each location. Welding shall conform to Certified AWS standards and practices. All seams and joints will be 100% welded. All sheared or cut edges shall be ground, radiused, or “eased” to prevent injury.
