The specification is for hydraulic-powered, gearbox driven spreaders to be mounted on standard 5 and 9 cubic yard dump trucks for snow and ice control operations. The spreaders must be compatible with the Department's existing hydraulic system and meet detailed requirements for materials, construction, auger, spinner assembly, hydraulic components, and other features. Bidders must complete and return the questionnaire with their bids. The Department reserves the right to approve or reject cleanout mechanisms and requires demonstration of the feed rate and spread rates. Delivery of the spreaders will be to various locations in the state, with manuals, parts lists, and warranty coverage required.

The specification outlines pricing and service requirements, including maintaining an adequate supply of common repair parts, providing parts/price lists, and demonstrating the equipment if requested by the State. The successful bidder must provide a full coverage warranty for a minimum of 12 months from the date the spreader is put into service. All exterior components, except the stainless steel parts, must be painted or powder coated flat black.

Note: If the equipment proposed exceeds the minimums called for in the specification please do not mark NO. Mark Yes and explain with a short comment on how it exceeds.

Type:

Hydraulic-powered, 5:1 gearbox, under-the-tailgate type spreader for mounting on standard IDOT 5 cu. yd. and 9 cu. yd. dump bodies.

Complies: |_| Yes |_| No The spreader shall be equipped with a single point connection Hydraulic Interlock device to positively prevent hydraulic pressure from reaching the auger/gearbox motor when the top cover, bottom trough door or chain guard cover are opened beyond the normal operating position. See picture attached for reference.

The Hydraulic Interlock for spreaders protects operators in two areas of the spreader:

· The cleanout trough at the bottom of the spreader cannot be opened until the motor hydraulic pressure hose has been disconnected, a lever is actuated to allow the trough to open and prevent pressure hose to be reconnected. This prevents the auger from turning when the trough is open.

· The top cover cannot be opened beyond 90° of horizontal until the motor hydraulic pressure hose described above has been disconnected and lever actuated to allow the top cover to open, lay flat or be removed. This prevents the auger from turning when the cover is being opened beyond 90°.

Complies: |_| Yes |_| No The spreader assembly shall be constructed using U.S. Domestic 201 austenitic stainless steel or equivalent corrosion resistant U.S. Domestic non-magnetic stainless steel. A copy of Certification of Compliance shall be included with spreaders delivered to each location. Welding shall conform to Certified AWS standards and practices. All seams and joints will be 100% welded. All sheared or cut edges shall be ground, radiused, or “eased” to prevent injury.
