About this file

This document is a specification and questionnaire for a high-moldboard trip type, reversible snowplow with extended discharge chutes for use on 6x6 tandem axle trucks operated by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The snowplow assembly must be constructed using U.S. Domestic steel and conform to certified AWS welding standards. Key requirements include an 11-foot moldboard with a minimum height of 41 inches, extended chutes of 10-14 inches, a minimum 10-gauge smooth rolled steel moldboard, and a compression spring trip mechanism. The push frame must hydraulically adjust the plowing angle 35 degrees right to 35 degrees left. The specification also includes requirements for the plow hitch adapter to mount the snowplow on an existing IDOT 6x6 plow hitch. The Department reserves the right to inspect the plows at the manufacturer's plant or have a pilot model shipped for inspection prior to delivery. Full coverage warranty for a minimum of 12 months is required.

Pricing and other commercial terms are not specified in the document. However, it notes the continuous operation of this equipment is of utmost importance, and the successful bidder must be able to provide prompt parts and service. Delivery must be made by truck, and the equipment will be subject to IDOT inspection and approval upon delivery.
