About this file
This document is a Certification of a Drug-Free Workplace form based on Section 287.087 of the Florida Statutes, applicable to state and political subdivision procurement processes. The form outlines specific requirements for businesses seeking preference in bid awards by implementing a comprehensive drug-free workplace program. The program mandates that businesses take several actions, including publishing a statement prohibiting controlled substance activity in the workplace, informing employees about drug abuse dangers and consequences, providing employees with written drug-free workplace policies, and establishing protocols for reporting and addressing drug-related convictions.
The form provides a framework for businesses to demonstrate compliance with drug-free workplace standards, which can give them a competitive advantage when bids are otherwise equal in price, quality, and service. Businesses must commit to six key actions, such as notifying employees of prohibited activities, offering drug counseling resources, requiring employee notification of drug convictions, and imposing sanctions or rehabilitation requirements for employees convicted of drug offenses. By signing the form, the authorized business representative certifies full compliance with these requirements, understanding that false statements are legally punishable.
