About this file
The document is the FEMA NextGen Manufactured Housing Units (MHU) Additional Requirements Version 1, dated February 3, 2025, which provides comprehensive technical specifications for FEMA's next-generation disaster housing units. The requirements cover multiple aspects of MHU construction, including transportation and frame specifications, electrical and plumbing systems, appliances, furniture, identification methods, and optional task order configurations. Key specifications include requirements for 8' and 14' wide MHUs with specific details on materials, components, testing, labeling, and performance standards that align with HUD manufactured home construction guidelines.
The document outlines two primary MHU configurations: 8' Wide Express and 14' Wide units, with detailed requirements for each system and component. Notable specifications include mandatory sprinkler system installation, specific electrical and HVAC standards, furniture and appliance specifications, and comprehensive identification and tracking protocols. The document also provides optional task order configurations, such as LP SmartSide panel siding and wall-mounted dehumidifier options, giving FEMA flexibility in unit customization. Vendors must comply with extensive testing requirements, including transportation testing, electrical and plumbing system evaluations, and meet specific performance and safety standards for disaster relief housing units.
