About this file

This document is an appendix of technical cut sheets for FEMA Manufactured Housing Units (MHUs), dated February 3, 2025, containing detailed specifications and installation instructions for various components of NextGen housing units. The appendix includes technical drawings, product specifications, and installation guidelines for elements such as air registers, range hoods, electrical components, roof vents, circuit breaker devices, straps, window and door flashing, and a dehumidifier. The cut sheets provide comprehensive technical details on product dimensions, installation procedures, compatibility requirements, and manufacturer-specific instructions for each component, which are intended to support the construction and assembly of FEMA's NextGen Manufactured Housing Units.

Additional Information for

Range Hoods meeting ADA Compliance

Broan and NuTone branded residential range hoods can be installed to comply with Sections 308 and 309 of ADA Guidelines, when used with appropriately mounted controls installed at 15” to 48” above the floor and control access should not require reaching over a cooking appliance.

The following range hoods can work in an ADA Compliant situation when the range hood is wired to operate from a dedicated, standard electrical wall switch. To facilitate this application, share the information on the following pages with your electrician when preparing for the installation.

2-SPEED RANGE HOODS:

Broan 40000, F40000, 41000, 42000, 43000, 52000, PM250, QL1, QS1, QSE1, QDE, QML and CBD1 Series, BKSA1, CLSC1, CRSF1

INSTALLATION

1. WARNING

To avoid fire or electrical shock, turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse. Test that the power is off before wiring.

2. MOUNT THE SWITCH BOX

For 2-Rocker Switch: Install a 3½" deep single-gang switch box or a 2" deep double-gang switch box.

For 3-Rocker Switch: Install a 2½" deep double-gang switch box with a single device adapter plate.

Clamp wiring to switch box and unit using appropriate clamp. Provide 6" leads inside box and fan for easier wiring.

4. CONNECT WIRING

General instructions for all configurations:

Make sure both the switch box and the appliance are properly grounded.

Make sure ground wire is securely fastened to control's ground screw. Tighten ground screw 14 to 16-in. lbs.

torque.

Remove insulation per strip gauge on control (approx.

5/8"). Use proper wire nut sizes for number and size of wires.

For push-in terminals: Use #14-AWG solid copper wire only.

For screw terminals: Use #12 or #14-AWG solid copper wire only. Tighten screw terminals 14 to 16-in. lbs. torque.

Choose 4A., 4B. or 4C

4A. When using 2-Rocker or 3-Rocker Switch to turn an appliance ON & OFF:

Make electrical connections following appropriate diagram.

Strap Ties

Straps are designed to transfer tension loads in a wide variety of applications.

HRS — Heavy strap designed for installation on the edge of 2x members.

The HRS416Z installs with Strong-Drive® SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws.

HTP — Heavy tie plate designed for installation on the side of 2x4 or larger members.

LSTA and MSTA — Designed for use on the edge of 2x members, with a nailing pattern that reduces the potential for splitting.

LSTI and MSTI — Light and medium straps that are suitable where pneumatic-nailing is necessary through diaphragm decking and wood chord open-web trusses.

MST — High-capacity strap that can be installed with either nails or bolts.

Suitable for double 2x member connections or greater.

MSTC — High-capacity strap that utilizes a staggered nail pattern to help minimize wood splitting. Nail slots have been countersunk to provide a lower nail head profile.

Finish: Galvanized. Some products are available in stainless steel, ZMAX® coating or black powder coat (add PC to sku);

contact Simpson Strong-Tie. See Corrosion Information,

pp. 13–15.

Installation: Use all specified fasteners; see General Notes

Options: Special sizes can be made to order; contact

Simpson Strong-Tie

Codes: See p. 12 for Code Reference Key Chart

MSTC and RPS meet code requirements for reinforcing cut members (16 gauge) at top plate and RPS at sill plate.

2. Install bolts or nails as specified by Designer. Bolt and nail values may not be combined.

3. Allowable bolt loads are based on parallel-to-grain loading and minimum member thickness: MST – 2 ½".

4. Splitting may be a problem with installations on lumber smaller than 3 ½"; either fill every nail hole with 0.148" x 1 ½" nails or fill every other hole with 0.162" x 2 ½" nails. Reduce the allowable load based on the size and quantity of fasteners used.

Roof Ventilation Systems: Cor-A-Vent V- 600®, V600®E & V-600®T/TE Ridge Ventilation System

When you need ventilation, you need the V-600 -- at 20 sq. in. of Net Free Vent Area per linear foot, V-600 has the highest airflow in the industry (http://www.cor-a-vent.com/vent-air-flow-test.cfm). NEW V-600E in 11" and 8

1/2" widths are the same great product as regular V-600 but with an added Enhanced Snow Screen™ to allow air out of your attic, but prevent weather from getting in. V-600 is the vent of choice for architects -- Cor-A-

Vent's most commonly-specified ridge vent by architects and designers when they need superior ventilation with their project.

For metal or barrel tile roofs, use the V-600T or V-600TE with Enhanced Snow Screen. One piece installs on each side of the ridge to give you flexibility with different ridge cap sizes. For metal applications, V-600T and V-
