RAISED B2 STORAGE
Condition Summary
Basement 2 has two different top of floor elevations. The top of concrete slab elevation is lower than the top of wood floor elevation. This project will raise the finished floor elevation at the storage area over the concrete slab to match the wood-framed area’s finished floor elevation.
Rehabilitation
A new wood-framed raised floor is to be built on top of the existing concrete slab to match the finished floor elevation of the existing wood-framed structure. The wood structure considers a storage live load of 250 psf.

MISCELLANEOUS
Cedar Rail Posts: The railing of the fire escapes is to be built using Alaskan (yellow) cedar. The railing posts are attached to the 6x via a through-bolted steel bracket. The design considers guardrail live loading of 200 pounds concentrated or 50 lb/ft distributed per ASCE 7-10 §4.5.1.
Balcony Railing: The balcony railing will consist of steel HSS posts welded to the HSS frame beams and clad in cedar wrapping for the appearance of wood. The design considers guardrail live loading of 200 pounds concentrated or 50 lb/ft distributed per ASCE 7-10 §4.5.1.
Elevator Guiderail Support: A new elevator is to be installed, providing access from Basement 2 to Level 1. The HSS guiderail support is designed for a preliminary lateral force per the elevator manufacturer.
Stairs: One set of new stairs is to be provided from Basement 3 to Basement 1.
Another set of new stairs is to be provided from Level 2 to Level 3. Where new openings through the existing floor are required, the existing framing is to be cut and re-supported wherever possible. The design of the stair structural elements considers a live load of 100 psf.
