PRECAST CONCRETE
GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE OF WORK
A. This Section specifies the requirements for precast concrete, including the following:
Prefabricated concrete control building, complete with all appurtenances.
Precast manholes for toe drains.
Diversion Intake Structure at CONTRACTOR’s option.
Precast concrete mat for toe drain weir boxes.

1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Shop Drawings
Shop Drawings shall include unit dimensions, section details, finishes, reinforcement, connection details, lifting and erection inserts, other embedded items, the alignment of pipe blockouts, proposed methods of anchoring used to secure adjacent concrete sections, and layout diagrams identifying installation locations and identification marks.
Product Data: Manufacturer’s literature, specifications, and load tables for materials to be used in precast Work.
B. Administrative
Design Data:
a. Complete design computations of each precast concrete unit, including the axial forces and diaphragm forces due to lateral loads and of the connections and anchorage systems. Computations shall be signed and sealed by a licensed Professional Engineer. Professional Engineer’s seal shall be clearly legible, including jurisdiction of registration, registration number, and name on seal.
b. Certification by Professional Engineer that design of precast concrete units was performed in accordance with performance and design criteria stated in the Contract Documents, and that design complies with Laws and Regulations.
C. Quality Control
Certificates:
a. Manufacturer’s certification of compliance with Professional Engineer’s design.
b. CONTRACTOR’s certification off source of supply for construction materials.
Manufacturer’s Instructions:
a. Instructions and recommendations for handling, storing, protecting the products furnished.
b. Installation instructions for the products furnished, including setting drawings, templates, and directions and tolerances for installing anchorage systems.
Source Quality Control Submittals:
a. Laboratory test results, evaluation reports, and other data as required for the source quality control tests and inspections required to demonstrate compliance with the Contract Documents for the following materials:
1) Concrete materials, cylinders, and mix design tests.
2) Certified copies of mill reports covering chemical and physical properties of miscellaneous metal materials.

Supplier Reports:
a. Submit written report of results of each visit to site by Supplier’s service personnel, including purpose and time of visit, tasks performed, and results obtained. Submit within two days of completion of visit to the Site.
Qualifications Statements: Submit qualifications for the following:
a. Manufacturer, when requested by BIA Representative.
b. Professional Engineer.
c. Installer.
d. Welders’ certifications.
1.04 QUALITY CONTROL
A. Manufacturer shall have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacture of similar structures.
B. Professional Engineer shall be a licensed Professional Engineer and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of similar structures.
C. Installer shall have a minimum of 5 years of experience installing similar structures.
D. Welder shall be a certified welder for the types of welds required for proposed connection types.
1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. After installation, CONTRACTOR shall demonstrate to the BIA Representative that the structures have been properly installed, level, with tight joints, at the correct elevations and orientations, and that backfill has been placed in accordance with the Specifications.
1.06 PRODUCT DELIVERY, HANDLING, AND STORAGE
A. Lift and support units only at designated lifting and supporting points.
B. Transport units in a manner that will not result in overstressing or damage during delivery, handling, and storage of units.
C. Provide storage location where units will be protected from vehicular traffic and other potential sources of damage. Units should be stored on concrete slab, wood or visqueen. Do not place units directly on earth during storage.
D. Place stored units so that identification marks are discernible.

1.08 TOE DRAIN WEIR BOX PRECAST MAT
Work shall be performed in accordance with ACI 301.
Reinforced, precast concrete mat shall be a minimum of 6 inches thick and constructed to the dimensions shown on the Drawings.
Reinforcement shall consist of 4x4 - W2.9xW2.9 WWF.
Minimum concrete compressive strength (f’c) shall be 4,000 psi.
PRODUCTS
2.01 PRECAST
A. Concrete and reinforcement used in the construction of structures shall conform to the requirements of Section 03 30 00 – Cast-in-Place Concrete.
B. Cast wall pipes and holes for pipe penetrations at the elevations and sizes indicated on the Drawings and also as required for CONTRACTOR-designed hydraulic line alignments, and as coordinated with the AGENCY for future equipment.
C. Joint Sealer for the precast sections shall be flexible material such as CONSEAL or approved equal.
EXECUTION
3.01 WORKMANSHIP
A. The precast concrete structures shall be installed on the top of the non-overflow section as shown on the drawings and in conformance with the manufacturer’s written instruction.
B. Tolerances shall be in accordance with ACI 117.
