About this file
This is a Water Supply Construction Permit issued by the Bureau of Water to the USDA Forest Service Region 8 for the Buck Hall Recreation Area Reconstruction project located at 1099 Buck Hall Landing Road, McClellanville, South Carolina 29458, in Charleston County.
The project involves installation of a groundwater system consisting of a Type IV well with a 4-inch diameter and approximately 200-foot depth, with an anticipated yield of 50 gallons per minute, five Well-X-Trol WX-350 storage tanks (approximately 2,927 linear feet of 2-inch waterline and 1,106 linear feet of 1-inch waterline), blow-offs, and appurtenances. The permit was issued on March 11, 2025, with a construction completion deadline of March 11, 2028. The permittee must comply with several special conditions including: use of lead-free materials as defined by the EPA; submission of monitoring results for pH, Total Coliform, Nitrate, Alkalinity, Iron, and Manganese; completion of well record forms, sand content testing, 24-hour pump tests, and chemical analyses within 30 days of well completion; compliance with federal pesticide regulations through the Clemson University Office of Regulatory Services; and development of an operation and maintenance manual prior to placing the system into operation. The permit authorizes construction only and does not constitute operational approval; a separate Approval to Place in Operation must be obtained from the Charleston EQC Office at 843-953-0150 following construction completion. Additional permits may be required prior to construction.
