About this opportunity
Johnson County Board of Commissioners is requesting sealed bids for traffic control, striping, raised pavement markers, rumble strips, and stop bars on 41 county roads under the 2026 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) Statewide Assistance Program, with bids due June 30, 2026.
All work must comply with Georgia Department of Transportation specifications and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The contractor must complete the full scope within 180 days from the Notice to Proceed. Work includes installation of temporary raised pavement markers, traffic control devices, lane closures, crossovers, detours, and bypass operations; utility coordination under Georgia's 811 "Call Before You Dig" requirements; and maintenance of the project area during construction. The contractor furnishes all labor, equipment, and materials.
Johnson County will retain WSP USA INC. as the Professional Engineer for project management and inspection services, with Project Engineer Barry Wood as the primary contact requiring 48 hours' notice before construction begins. A preconstruction conference will be held with the selected contractor prior to Notice to Proceed to address project schedule, traffic control plans, inspection requirements, utility coordination, and proposed subcontractors.
Performance and payment bonds, each at 100 percent of the contract price, and required insurance certificates must be furnished at contract signing. Progress payments are processed within 30 days of receipt, with 10 percent retained until final project acceptance. Sealed bids must be submitted to the Johnson County courthouse in Wrightsville, Georgia, with bid validity required for 60 days from the bid date. Johnson County reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The Board of Commissioners and County Manager will select the lowest and best bid.
