Prototypical questions through midnight January 9 Prototypical Project Questions
1. The site plan shows building 326, but the SOW describes the same building as 327 known as the existing chapel, is building 326 correct? The site plan shows this building as 226 and 227, and no building 230
Answer: The Site Plan and SOW are both correct. Communications will come from BLDG 327. BLDG 327 (The Chapel) is 150’ south of the proposed building.
2. The SOW talks about extending 6 strand of SM fiber (part of the 12 strand in the BOM) and extending this to building # 230 in the comm room. Since there is no building #230 on the site plan, where does this 6 strand fiber go?
Answer: There is an existing 12 strand SM Fiber cable from building 327 to building 230 of which 6 strands are currently terminated. This calls for the contractor to terminate the other 6 strands in both buildings.
3. There is a quantity of 36 SM connectors which would imply that the 12 strand is terminated at each end, and then there are an additional 12 connectors left. The implication is that another 6 strands of SM fiber are installed but where?
Answer: The additional material is to terminate the other 6 strands of the existing cable in buildings 327 and 230 as in question 2.
4. Also to note the 6 strand fiber connectors and couplers are on the BOM list but not the 6 strand fiber spec? Does the 6 stand fiber need to be direct buried in conduit between building # 326 and building # 230?
Answer: As answered in question 2, there is no new 6 strand cable.
5. The drawing denotes a quad (4) port faceplate to each location, but never denotes how many phone or data cables to each location? Since there is only 1- 24 port patch panel in the BOM, the assumption is 1 data and 1- phone to each location.
Answer: As in the SOW, all jacks are quads (4) requiring four (4) cables and jacks. There were four (4) 24 port Patch Panels listed in the BOM.
6. The total count of 76 RJ 45 Jacks in the BOM does not equal the cable count even if there is 1 phone and data per location, ( I counted 20 locations on drawing A5.1 ) Question: Are there 2 cables per location or 4?
Answer: There are 19 jack locations with four (4) ports per location, thus 76 RJ45 jacks.
7. If 4 cables per location there is only 1 cat6 patch panel in the BOM. Should there be 4?
Answer: If the BOM said 1 Patch Panel, that was an error. Four (4) 24 port CAT 6 Patch Panels are required.
8. If there are 2 cables per location there is still only 1 cat6 patch panel listed on the BOM. Should that be 2? If not where do the phone cables get terminated?
Answer: As above, all jacks are CAT 6 Quads (4) and there are four (4) 24 Port CAT 6 Patch Panels required.
9. Do the 9 Cisco IP phones need to be provided with a client license also?
Answer: Yes.
