Prototypical questions through January 3 Prototypical Project Questions
1. What is the width of Fairbanks?
Answer: Typical width of Fairbanks is 22’
2. What type of HVAC system are we to price?
Answer: Refer to Question 2 on the Prototypical questions through December 30 document
3. Is this considered a complex or non-complex project?
Answer: Complex or non-complex has to do with design-build projects. Since this is not a DB project, this questions does not relate to this project.
4. Who is responsible to remove the existing concrete jersey barriers?
Answer: Owner is responsible
5. What are the depths of the existing utilities?
Answer: depths vary and are unknown
6. On sheet A1.1, what is shown around the building? Is this supposed to represent a 5’ wide sidewalk?
Answer: yes, it’s a 5’ walk/mow strip to protect siding from riding lawn mowers.
7. Sheet A2.1 calls for a siliconized polyester finish for all metal panels, standing seam roof panels, and gutters. This specification is at least 30 years old and I know of only one company who even offers this finish system anymore. This finish system requires specialized equipment to roll the material into shapes that most manufacturers have discarded years ago. The more modern finish systems are more expensive, but perform much better. Since they don’t offer this system anymore, it puts them at a competitive disadvantage. Can the specifications be updated?
Answer: Or Equal To. We have not had problems getting this in the past, but equal to options are acceptable
8. Sheet A3.1 calls for 3-hour fire rated hollow metal and wood doors. This seems to be significantly more than is required for a structure like this. From a code compliance viewpoint, none of the doors are required to be fire rated. If fire rated doors are required, we do not know of any wood door manufacturer that offers a 3-hour fire rated door. Can the fire rating on the doors be eliminated?.
Answer: Refer to Question 4 on the Prototypical questions through December 30 document.
9. Sheet A4.1 does not show any lights in the showers. Should can lights in the showers be included?
Answer: Yes, can lights in the changing area will do.
10. What size water main is required? It seems that if the water line running to Building 326 is adequate to serve both buildings, it would be better to tap into this water main. Please review and respond.
Answer: there will be a new 2” waterline to main.
11. See questions on the attached C1.1. What does this line represent? Does it need to be relocated?
Answer: This is the old site plan. The new site plan was released with amendment 2 under “Modification 1 drawing 2 of 7” and will answer this question.
12. See questions on the attached C1.1. What does this pink represent? Does it need to be relocated?
Answer: This is the old site plan. The new site plan was released with amendment 2 under “Modification 1 drawing 2 of 7” and will answer this question.
13. See questions on the attached C1.1. What does this black line represent? Does it need to be relocated?
Answer: This is the old site plan. The new site plan was released with amendment 2 under “Modification 1 drawing 2 of 7” and will answer this question.
