Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) marking and the warning
'REUSABLE CONTAINER – DO NOT DESTROY' applied to them in accordance with NAVAIR 233AS622. The Contractor shall also be responsible for assuring that the loaded containers meet the other marking requirements of NAVAIR 233AS600.

Table 1. Accept/Reject Guidelines for MK 706 MOD 0 Shipping Containers
ACCEPT REJECT
1. Accept minor paint chips/scuffs not exposing bare metal (see Figure 1), except as defined below.
2. Bare metal exposure on MK 706 containers shall be allowed after motor pack-out and prior to shipping as long as it does not exceed one (1) square inch per occurrence and ten (10) square inches cumulative.
3. Accept dents (see Figure 3) in the thin-wall section of the Body Tube, e.g., within 37 inches from the Top’s stacking lugs, only if the inner diameter is greater than or equal to 3.109 inches. Inspection can be accomplished by inserting a calibrated diameter inspection cylinder
(length: 6 inches min.) machined to an outside diameter of 3.109 ± 0.005 inches.
1. Reject unit if major paint damage is exposing bare metal exceeding one (1) square inch per occurrence and ten (10) square inches cumulative (see Figure 2).
2. Reject unit if major Body Tube damage is impeding insertion of Rocket Motors.
3. Reject unit if a dent is in the thick-wall section of the Body Tube, e.g., within 6 inches from the bottom of the Base (see
Figure 4).
4. Reject unit if the inner diameter of the Body
Tube’s thin-wall section is less than 3.109 inches. Inspection can be accomplished by inserting a calibrated diameter inspection cylinder (length: 6 inches min.) machined to an outside diameter of 3.109 ± 0.005 inches.
3 DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT C, U.S. Government Agencies & Contractors Only
5. Reject unit if stencil markings are illegible
(see Figure 6).
6. Reject unit if Cover Assembly is missing
Gaskets, Buffers or Spacers (see Figure 7).
Likewise, reject for any discontinuity or deformity in the Gaskets.
7. Reject unit if Base is missing Buffers or
Acryl ic Spacers.
8. Reject unit if Cover Assembly is damaged or missing hardware.
9. Reject unit if there are holes or punctures in
Body Tubes.
10. Reject unit if stack-ability of containers is affected by:
a) Damaged stacking lugs, or
b) Top and Base surfaces are out of alignment, e.g., not on the same plane, crooked.
11. Body Tubes must be tight between Top and
Base; reject unit if Body Tubes can be turned by hand.
12. Reject unit if rivets (4 places) are missing on
Body Assembly’s Base.
4. Accept double stencil markings (see
Figure 5).
5. Accept some discoloration, dried water spots, and longitudinal deep scratches inside the Body Tubes.
Stains, light film of fine grit and/or trace amounts of tape stuck to the inner tube walls are also acceptable.
6. Accept if Buffers or Acrylic Spacers at the closed end have adhesive and/or small pieces of foreign material stuck to the adhesive around the edges.
7. Accept if Buffers are stained or discolored.
8. Accept covers with paint over-spray on the Gasket, Buffer and Acrylic
Spacer surfaces.
9. Accept if covers do not contain any paint on the underside of the cover.
10. Accept containers containing spots of white powdery residue on the exterior; the Contractor shall wipe the residue off the area to be stenciled prior to stenciling new markings.
11. Accept containers with bare metal exposure in the lug stacking area (as a result of typical shipping and handling damage) provided that no single instance is greater than one (1) square inch (see Figure 8).
12. Ensure that there is no excessive foreign material inside the Body
Tubes, e.g., less than 100 sand particles is acceptable.
