About this file

This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and preserving the Fuel Oil Drain Tank (6-126-1-F) on the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), located at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka. The specific work involves commercial blast cleaning of the tank, visual inspection for coating and structural integrity, repairing deteriorated welds and plates (including up to one linear foot of weld repairs, 60 square inches of base metal weld buildup, 10 square feet of plate replacement, and 4 linear feet of stiffener replacement), and applying new preservation coatings.

The work is scheduled to start on 1/12/2026 and complete by 6/12/2027, with a total project scope covering the fuel oil drain tank's entire 70 square foot interior surface, including manhole cover plates, air vent hose connection cover plates, and bolting rings. Special requirements include working around a fire zone boundary, requiring a non-flammable closure, and maintaining Level III cleanliness for piping systems and equipment. The project involves multiple trades including laborers, painters, welders, electricians, and quality assurance personnel, with support services to be provided by SRF-JRMC including crane services, utility services, and technical inspections.
