About this file
This Task Group Instruction (TGI) details maintenance and repair work for the USS Blue Ridge's Distillate Fuel Service tank (7-82-2-F). The scope of work includes comprehensive cleaning, inspection, repair, and preservation of the fuel service tank, with specific requirements including visual inspection of existing preservation coating, marking corroded or damaged areas, general cleaning at Level II, and multiple repair tasks such as welding, grinding, and plate replacements.
Key technical requirements involve repairing a total of one linear foot of deteriorated welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, removal and installation of 10 square feet of deteriorated plate, and 4 linear feet of defective stiffener. The work also includes power tool cleaning of interior and exterior surfaces, partial coating removal, and surface preparation. The project is scheduled for contractor work from January 12, 2026, to May 15, 2027, and will be performed at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan, with specific safety and fire zone boundary considerations noted in the instruction.
