About this file
This Task Group Instruction (TGI) details maintenance and repair work for the USS BLUE RIDGE's Lube Oil Storage Tank (7-117-3-F) at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka. The comprehensive work scope includes cleaning and repairing the 691-gallon tank, involving specific technical requirements such as vee-out and welding one linear foot of deteriorated welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, removing and installing 10 square feet of deteriorated plate, and removing/installing 4 linear feet of defective stiffener.
The work is scheduled from January 12, 2026 through June 12, 2027, with multiple procedural steps including Level II general cleaning, manhole cover installation, nondestructive testing, surface preparation, and application of system fluid. Special requirements include working near a fire zone boundary and potential lead hazard. The project will be executed at multiple locations including the Lube Oil Storage Tank, Auxiliary Fuel Service Tank, and Emergency Diesel Generator Room, with various quality assurance and technical support services to be provided by SRF-JRMC (Shore Repair Facility - Japan Regional Maintenance Center).
