About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19) detailing maintenance work on the Used Lube Oil Sump (6-122-1-F). The specific work involves cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and preserving the lube oil sump located in the Ships Service Diesel Generator area. The project is scheduled to start on 1/12/2026 and complete by 6/12/2027, with a total scope including commercial blast cleaning, visual inspection, structural repairs, and preservation coating of a 70 square foot interior surface area.
Key technical requirements include commercial blast cleaning per SSPC-SP 6 specification, repairing up to one linear foot of deteriorated welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, removing and replacing 10 square feet of deteriorated plate, and installing new coating. Special requirements include working around a fire zone boundary requiring a non-flammable closure and maintaining Level III cleanliness for piping systems. The work will be conducted at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) Naval Base in Japan, with quality assurance and technical support provided by SRF-JRMC (Ship Repair Facility Japan Regional Maintenance Center).
