About this file
This Task Group Instruction (TGI) details maintenance and repair work for Void (9-82-4-V) on the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), a naval vessel stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. The comprehensive void maintenance involves commercial blast cleaning, visual inspection, structural repairs, and preservation of a 134 square foot interior surface area. Specific repair requirements include welding one linear foot of deteriorated welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, removal and replacement of 10 square feet of deteriorated plate, and removal/installation of 4 linear feet of defective stiffener.
The work is scheduled for execution between January 12, 2026, and May 15, 2027, with associated tasks including manhole cover installation, nondestructive testing, and coating application. The instruction includes technical specifications from multiple references such as NAVSEA Standard Items and Corrosion Control Assessment manuals. Special requirements note a fire zone boundary modification necessitating a non-flammable closure, and the document highlights potential lead hazards during the maintenance process. The project will be overseen by personnel from Code 231B, with additional technical support from SRF-JRMC.
