About this file
This Task Group Instruction (TGI) details a structural repair project for the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), specifically focusing on repairing structural members in compartment 7-30-0-E. The repair work involves multiple locations including the Emergency Generator Room, SD Storeroom, Crew Baggage Storeroom, Lube Oil Tanks, Air Conditioning Machinery Room, and various fuel and ballast spaces. Key components to be addressed include second platform plates, longitudinal bulkheads, vertical stiffeners, and doubler plates, primarily located between Frames 30-40 on the starboard side.
The project is scheduled to commence on 12 January 2026 and complete by 13 December 2027, with work involving removal of existing structural members, fabrication and installation of new components, weld repairs, and preservation treatments. The work requires specific material specifications, including OS plates meeting MIL-S-22698 Grade A standards. Special requirements include maintaining cleanliness at Level III for piping systems, addressing potential lead and asbestos hazards, and fabricating a non-flammable closure for fire zone boundaries. The instruction includes detailed material lists, job summaries, and sketches defining precise repair locations and preservation areas.
