About this file
This document is a Justification for Single Source Award for signage procurement at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center (VAMC). The project involves acquiring 18 specialized signs from Takeform for the Sterile Processing Services (SPS) Equipment Site Prep project, with specific design requirements including a DV202 Ting Ting backer, LS837 Graphite face finish, CO104 White raised copy, Helvetica font, and a Shutterstock graphic insert. The signs will be used for various rooms including men's and women's locker rooms, housekeeping closet, scope decontamination room, and fire extinguisher cabinet areas.
The justification emphasizes Takeform as the sole vendor due to the Minneapolis VA Facility's ongoing standardization of signage, with the vendor already chosen as the facility's standard base for wayfinding and signage systems. The project is part of a larger renovation with a construction magnitude between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000, and the signage procurement ensures aesthetic consistency, ease of maintenance, and compliance with ADA and International Building Code requirements. The document is signed by the Contracting Officer from Network Contracting Office (NCO) 23, approving the purchase in accordance with FAR 13.106-1.

3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
The Minneapolis VA Facility is currently undergoing a process to update all the existing signage to new ones from Takeform. The other areas that already have new signage has obtained the new signage from Takeform. It’s only reasonable that the VA continues to use Takeform so that it will be compatible with the new system to ensure standardization of aesthetics, maintenance, and wayfinding. There are no other vendors that offer this type of signage. Takeform signage meets all Americans with Disabilities Act and International Building Code requirements. Takeform has already been chosen as the standard base for where the Minneapolis VA Facility solicits its wayfinding and signage system.
4. Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted:
Extensive market research for a new wayfinding and signage system was already conducted prior to this project’s conception; therefore it wasn’t conducted for this project specifically. Takeform was chosen because their signage was easiest to make changes to along with being the most aesthetically pleasing to the facility. Takeform has already been selected as the facilities standard base. The Minneapolis VA Facility only solicits its wayfinding and signage from Takeform.
5. Contracting Officer's Certification:
Purchase is approved in accordance with FAR13.106-1(b). I certify that the foregoing justification is accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge and belief.
