AFFF releases occur in facilities which no longer require the AFFF. An assessment must be done to determine whether new FPS would be needed.

The NAVFAC ITG of 5 MAY 2022 describes conditions under which PWDs may secure AFFF systems in hangars and other facilities.

Compliance with these requirements and conditions is mandatory.

After AFFF systems have been secured, bringing them back on line requires detailed planning and considerable effort, risk and cost. The detailed plan must be developed by the RBH, Installation Environmental Program Director (IEPD), building occupants, and maintenance force supervisor, and led by the FEC FPE. The final plan must be approved by the FEC CHENG.
