Based on prior practices, what are the types and quantity of waste generated from operating the Sites A and F groundwater extraction and treatment systems on an annual basis (e.g., spent carbon, bag filters, sediment, sludge, spent test kits); was the waste profiled as hazardous or non-hazardous waste; is the Contractor responsible for disposal of all wastes; how often does the waste require profiling; and what facility is the waste transported to for disposal?
Response:
Quantities of waste generated from operating the Sites A and F treatment systems varies from year to year.
Historical information is offered:
-On average 40,000 lbs. of spent carbon are collected each year from Site F and handled as hazardous recyclable material and eventually regenerated by a subcontractor -On average 4 sets of 5 micron tri-cluster fabric filters are cleaned weekly -On average two sets of five filters are disposed weekly, and the filters are poly ring lock, 25-micron, #2 size -Filters are rinsed (and rinse water is collected and run through the treatment plant) and disposed of as non-hazardous waste -Carbon material is profiled each time it is collected from Site F by NBK Bangor.
-There are a variety of facilities nationwide that receive the recyclable hazardous material from Site F.
