Analyzed architectural & engineering deficiencies
EGWW becomes ARRA funded
SERA and CAA complete study
Presenter Presentation Notes The project has a history that extends back in time to 1966 when the City of Portland dedicated the 2 city blocks for the building. The original building was completed in 1974 – and it was one of 17 identical buildings that have sprinklered throughout the USA. Clearly Skidmore Owings and Merrill was not thinking of climate responsive design when they designed the project. Fast forwarding to today. The current project was first contemplated as a modernization effort to address deficiencies and changes to building code that were noted in the 1996 building engineering report. After passage of ARRA funding, EGWW was identifed as one of a hand full of projects determined to be shovel ready and the moderization restart occurred.
After rescoping the project, the team realized the benefit of colocating and having the CMC on board early in the process.

WATER USE REDUCTION
Presenter Presentation Notes
LISA
We meet the ARRA requirement of reducing indoor potable water use by 20% compared to EPACT 1992, but in order to meet the requirement that we manage the 95th percentile rain event onsite through infiltration, reuse or evapo-transpiration, a rain collection tank or other device was mandated. In addition, ARRA requires that strategies to capture rainwater for non-potable uses be investigated. For this project we looked at both greywater treatment and reuse and rainwater treatment and calculated that with the use of an old rifle range in the basement that we could hold approximately 170,000 gallons – we could exceed the goals of ARRA and manage the 95th storm event. Greywater reuse was not required.
