Base Comm MH conduits
There shall be two conduits extending from the base’s communications maintenance hole to the weather-proof box. In addition, the conduits cannot be flex conduits, but rather smooth-walled PVC pipes. Finally, 2, 3-inch tricell MaxCell geotextile fabric innerducts need to be installed in one conduit to maximize the use of its space. Fiber optic cabling will be pulled through these innerducts.
E-23
ST Type Multimode connector
Aviano is standardizing SC Connectors for inside plant (ISP). For the Multimode connector, use SC. As it is not processing secure communications, SC is the required connector.
E-23
200 pair copper cable (circle 4)
Copper cabling is no longer needed. To compensate, increase the fiber optic strands from 12 strands to 24 strands. To support NIPR, Commercial circuits, and Fire Department’s emergency lines for elevators.
E-23
Outlet boxes
Communications and power outlet boxes need to be separated and have a minimum separation of 6 inches in accordance with (IAW) UFC 3-580. Use four port faceplates, but each drop will consist of 2 CAT6 cables. The remaining two ports will be filled with blank ports.
E-23
Building service entrance protector (Circle 10)
Remove this requirement. No longer necessary as copper cabling is removed from the design. In addition, as a blanket statement, remove all components associated with outside plant (OSP) copper cabling. As for the plywood backboard, those are required to remain in place.
E-23
Telecommunications Main Grounding Bus Bar (TMGB) (Circle 12)
Ensure that the grounding resistance is IAW TIA 607C. Resistance needs to be 10 ohms or less. In addition, the bus bar needs to be large enough to support additional comm rooms (first, second and third level comm rooms) grounding bus bar - all grounding for communications must be tied into the TMGB. Additional space will be required for comm rack’s grounding and bus bar and future expansion. All ground lugs are required to be the two-holed compression-type lug. All grounding connections must have a coating of non-oxidizing compound prior to mating and termination on any surface or couplers, including bus bars.
E-23
Existing Fiber (Circle 7)
As stated above, this renovation will require a 24-strand FOC. If the existing cannot support, pull a 24-st FOC from B1496, 31 CS’ information transport node (ITN) using the existing cable as a pull rope-it should take the old cable’s space. If the existing does not tie into 1496, it will have to be removed from its end building and reinstalled from B1496.
E-23
Fiber optic terminations
To restate, all connectors must be SC connectors. They must also be housed in a closed-connector housing (CCH). This will protect the fiber patch cables from routine maintenance as well as new installs within the rack.

Comm Drops
Disregard drops on design and refer to PowerPoint slides for new comm lines.
E-23
Wall Addition and drops
Review slide 2 for wall addition and drops
E-23
Relocate cable tray
To ease into the comm room into the first level, route cable tray to maximize location from ground level to first level. This will be a repeated subject for all levels.
E-24
Comm Drops
Refer to slides 3 and 4 for all updated comm drops. Disregard those on previous 100 percent drawings.
E-25
Storage facilities
Please provide a drop (2 LAN cables) each in the storage facilities.
E-25
Revise Floor plan
Revise customer’s new requirements of floor plan. Refer to slide 4 as a reference. Customer also needs 75mm conduits (outlined) to route A/V system cabling. There is a rack projected on the floor plan. Engage with customer to capture full requirements.
E-26, E-27
Cross-reference Slides and design
A major alteration for this drawing. Review slides for new floor plan concept and drops. Disregard all drops in the previous design and reference the slides for current requirement.
E-28, E-29
Revised Floor Plan
Referencing to UFC 3-580, para 2-4.2.2., Comm Rooms are required on every floor. Floor plan was revised to meet this requirement. Refer to slide 7 to view changes. After the required spacing is reserved for the comm room, 80 sq ft or 10ft x 8ft, remove all walls on that side of the building and divide the space into two work spaces. Then reference the slide for the updated requirements.
E-30
Comm room
As there is limited space for a comm room, a quarter server rack is proposed and it is to be wall mounted as shown in slide 9. Reference slide 12 for additional guidelines. The 12 st FOC can be provided from the elevator’s riser and then installed into the cable tray system to the quarter rack.
General
LAN Drops and Cable Trays
All drops shall be classified as singular with 2 LAN cables. Ex-one drop is 2 CAT6 Cables. Two drops are 4 CAT6 Cables. Increase Cable tray size as appropriate to not exceed 25% fill ratio. 25% fill ratio will be half of the cable tray. 50% fill ratio will be a completely filled cable tray. All drops must be co-located near power outlets; however, they must maintain a separation distance of 6 inches.
General
Comm Rooms
IAW UFC 3-580 para 2-4.2.2, each floor must contain a comm room. The minimum dimensions are 10 feet by 8 feet. If the floor in which this comm room supports is larger than 10,000 sq ft, another comm room is needed. To emphasize with this requirement, grounding must all tie back to the TMGB and all comm rooms will have a grounding bar with the proper resistance rating.
General
25mm diameter conduits from cable tray to outlet boxes
For the sake of expansion, requesting that the diameter for the conduits to be increased from 25mm to 30mm. This shall be applied to all floor levels.
General
Cameras and TVs
31 CS is not liable for CATV and Cameras. Please consult a certified technician to complete requirements, design, and technical solutions. Also note that racks have been built into the design in anticipation of these systems.

Singlemode (SM) OSP FOC shall be installed from B1496 to B1469 and will be a 24 st FOC to support customer’s requirements. In addition, 12 st Multimode (MM) FOC must be installed to each floor’s comm rooms and terminated in a fiber optic distribution panel (FODP). All terminations must be done with pigtails and all fusion splices will be preserved in splice sleeves and cassettes. The color coding of all FOC and pigtails shall be IAW TIA 568. If this is not achievable, a reference chart or numbering shall be attached or adhered to on the splice cassettes.
General
Deliverables
Deliverables should include shapefiles and butterfly drawings of each MH the FOC was installed in. The shapefiles must be programed into the geospatial coordinates of WGS 1984 UTM 33N. Rack elevations are also required upon completion of the project. In addition, test results with optical power meters on all wavelengths shall be performed bi-directionally on all applicable wavelengths for interoperability.
