DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
HEADQUARTERS AIR COMBAT COMMAND
JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS VA
Agile Combat Power
6 Aug 2018
FOR: CAF CAS INTERESTED PARTIES
FROM: HQ ACC AMIC
SUBJECT: CAF CAS (Solicitation No. FA4890-17-R-0007) – Update
1. The purpose of this notice is to provide CAF CAS interested parties updated information for the CAF CAS acquisition.
2. As previously discussed during the Pre-RFP Conference, efforts were being made for the inclusion of CAF CAS into the FY19 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Inclusion of CAF CAS in the NDAA will enable the Government to award a 10-year IDIQ contract.
Unfortunately, CAF CAS was not included in the FY19 NDAA and the updated acquisition timeline is now contingent upon the inclusion of CAF CAS in the FY20 NDAA. FY20 NDAA coordination is currently at Secretary of the Air Force’s office and is expected to be submitted to
Congress this month.
3. The FY19 NDAA encourages the Secretary of the Air Force and Secretary of the Navy to seek opportunities to coordinate adversary air requirements. With this direction, AMIC and the
Navy’s PMA-226 have been in discussions to include the Navy’s emerging adversary air requirements under CAF CAS.
4. CAF CAS has been granted business clearance through the Office of the Secretary of Defense
Peer Review. Pending Congressional notification, release of the Request for Proposal is planned within the next 30 days. The Government anticipates 45 days for proposal preparation time with proposals due in early to mid-October.
5. All questions submitted by industry since the Pre-RFP Conference will be answered prior to release of the RFP.
6. All future communication regarding CAF CAS shall be directed to the undersigned via the
CAF CAS Organizational email, ACCAMIC.DRX.AdversaryAir@us.af.mil.
