SECTION 06131
HEAVY TIMBER LOG SHELTER
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 Provide and construct framing beams, roof decking, and wood columns and any other materials required for a complete job as shown on the Drawings.
1.02 Submit product data and samples for stain color in accordance with Section 01300 –Submittals and Section 09900 - Painting.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01
WOOD MATERIALS
A. All wood materials shall be either Ponderosa Pine or Sugar Pine -
B.
Roof beams shall be 9-inch diameter.
C. Posts and beams shall be 18-inch diameter.
D.
Rafters shall be a minimum of 9-inch in diameter logs, 24-inches on center.
E. Trusses shall be built using 8-inch diameter logs.
F.
Roof Decking shall be 2” x 6” T & G. Roof decking can either be Ponderosa Pine or Sugar Pine.
G.
10-inch diameter logs shall be used between each corner post. Any other lateral bracing shall be 9-inch diameter logs.
H.
All building materials shall be new and dry.
2.02
COLUMN BASES
A.
Bases for columns shown on the drawings shall be placed on concrete pedestals and attached to steel straps that are embedded in the concrete slab, as shown on the drawings.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION
A. Height of structure from slab to span of logs shall be a minimum of 8-feet.
3.02 FINISHES
A. All wood members and are to have a wire-brushed finish and are to be sealed, stained, and waterproofed according to Section 09900.
Contractor shall submit stain color chart to COR for color selection.
B.
All fasteners shall be recessed, plugged with a like material and finished according to No. 1 above.
PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT
4.01 Method of Measurement:
Measurement will be made for the completed log recreation shelter, including metal roof. Concrete Slab will be paid for under Section 03300 – Cast-in-Place- concrete.
4.02 Payment:
Payment shall be made under the following item:
