SECTION 02845
PRE-CAST CONCRETE WHEEL STOPS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 - Description
This section specifies the furnishing and installation of reinforced concrete wheel stops.
1.2 - Submittals
Submit the following, for approval, to the COR in accordance with Section 01330.
Product Data - Manufacturer's current catalog with shop drawings and description of finish, construction, hardware, and specifications. Include manufacturer's complete current line for selection by COR.
Installation Instructions - Manufacturer's complete description of installation instructions.
Work on this item shall not commence until the COR approval has been obtained for these submittals.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 - Dimension
Size and shape of the wheel stops shall be as SHOWN ON DRAWINGS.
2.2 - Precast Concrete Wheel Stops
Minimum strength of concrete shall be 3000 psi. Reinforcing shall be minimum grade 40 steel per ASTM A-615.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 - Installation
Install in locations as SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. Secure with minimum #5 rebar to depth SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. The top of the bars shall finish 1/2" below the surface of the wheel stop.
For precast concrete wheel stops, the bar hole shall be tightly packed with mortar and struck off flush with the top of the wheel stop.
3.2 - Concrete Surface Finishes
Repair of all minor surface defects, which occur at the time of casting or during field installation, with cement mortar. Defects include tie holes and minor honeycombing.
Concrete wheel stops with any discernible spalling will be rejected.
Cement mortar for patching shall be the same composition as that used in the concrete, to provide a finish color matching the surrounding concrete. Patching shall be done as soon as the forms are removed. Clean thoroughly all areas to be patched.
Hairline cracks which extend to at least 2 surfaces will be basis for rejection of concrete wheel stops.
PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT
4.1 - Measurement
Measurement will be for each wheel stop furnished and installed, including bar and mortar and all incidentals required to complete the work described herein.
4.2 - Payment
The accepted quantities will be paid for at the contract unit price for each pay item shown in the SCHEDULE OF ITEMS.
