No. Question Response
1. Exterior doors from first floor – Demo Note 3 on Sheet A‐202 says “Existing exterior elevator doors to remain,” whereas construction Note 9 on the same sheet says “Install new elevator doors and frames.” Does FAA require the exterior doors to be retained or replaced? If replaced, what type of door and frame are required, as these doors are omitted from the Door & Frame Schedule, Sheet A‐ 402?
The existing elevator has elevator doors and frames In the shaft and then secondary doors and frames that can be closed off so there is no elevator access that are not part of the elevator shaft or elevator itself. Demo note 3 refers to the elevator shaft doors being demolished and replaced. Demo note 4 refers to the radio frequency shielded secondary doors and frames being removed that are not part of the elevator shaft. Note 9 is referring the to the elevator shaft doors which are to be replaced with new. On the first floor the secondary door and frame is removed and not replaced since the elevator does not need to be closed off with RF Shielded doors anymore. Elevator shaft doors are not on the door schedule as they are part of the elevator package that needs to be provided
2. Interior doors from basement, first floor, and second floor – The notes on Sheets A‐201, A‐202, and A‐203 say to “install new elevator doors and frames.” However, none of these doors are referenced in the Door & Frame Schedule, Sheet A‐402? What type of door and frame are required?
The “new elevator doors and frames” are referring to the elevator shaft doors. Same as above, Elevator shaft doors are not on the door schedule as they are part of the elevator package that needs to be provided.
