About this file
This document is Amendment No. 6 to Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 438477 for the EIC HSR BPM Button Assembly. The amendment extends the proposal due date to December 16, 2024 and incorporates a clarification that Teflon cannot be used as an insulator for the button assembly, as specified in Section 3.2.2 of the EIC HSR BPM Button Assembly specification. The amendment also notes a change in the connector type from SMA Female to RP SMA Female to simplify the mechanical design and eliminate the risk of reduced elasticity of the female petals after brazing. All other terms and conditions of the RFP remain unchanged.
The related federal contract opportunity is for the design and fabrication of the EIC HSR BPM Button Assembly, with the Department of Energy Office of Science as the procuring agency. BSA shall award up to three subcontracts for 35 preproduction components each, with an option for up to 1,355 production components per subcontract, and will exercise an option on one of the subcontracts for the production components.

Amendment No. 6 to
Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 438477
For
HSR BPM Button Assembly
GENERAL: This Amendment No. 6 is to amend Request for Proposal RFP No. 438477 as follows.
1. Extend the proposal due date through Monday, December 16, 2024, 5:00PM EST.
2. Incorporate the following clarification question into the RFP by reference.
Can Teflon be use as an insulator?
Answer: Section 3.2.2 of the EIC HSR BPM Button Assembly specification (EIC-ISG- SPC-005) states Teflon cannot be used:
A clarification regarding the Button Assembly connector:
In drawing 2551M0003 (Hadron Storage Ring, Beam Instrumentation, 18 mm Button BPM, Rev 2) the connector was indicated as SMA Female, this has been changed to RP SMA Female in the Rev 5 drawing. The two types of connectors mentioned are shown in the picture below for comparison. The motivation to change the connector type to RP SMA Female was to eliminate the female petals and have a post instead. This design change simplifies the mechanical design of the BPM Assembly and eliminates the risk of the female petals having reduced elasticity after a brazing process. The insulator shown in the pictures below is not needed/required on the Button Assembly.
All other terms, conditions, and provisions of this RFP shall remain unchanged.
Material, work, and workmanship, except where specified otherwise in this Amendment shall conform to all requirements of Contract Documents and become a part thereof.
