Attachment A
Clarification Questions and Answers
Dated August 05, 2024
1. Question: The drawing notes there are to be 2 leak check grooves on the face of the flange. Can you provide the details of how these grooves will be used?
Answer: These grooves allow for leak checking the flange gasket seal. Helium can be injected into these grooves and allow it to easily reach to the air side vacuum barrier of the gasket seal for proper leak testing.
2. Question: Would you be able to share some basic dimensions that we can incorporate into the design?
Answer: The groove requirement provides for manufacturer flexibility and discretion.
The groove only need be .02” wide by .02” deep and intersect with the flange OD and the 1.3” seal groove OD. It could be as wide as .06” and 0.04” deep. That said these dimensions can be adjusted if they pose any concern.
