I am looking at the Access Control portion of the project, Division 281300. We are an authorized/certified dealer/installer for Software House, the facility’s current and specified system.
I am finding 37 doors of access control called out in the documentation. There are two hardware sets listed in the Division 87100. Set B01-3 and B03-6 (included below). In that division section is listed the door numbers. I have questions about all doors with added clarification on two. Should door GB24-14 be marked GA24-14? RESPONSE: Yes. Where is Door GB28-14? It is not shown in the documents. RESPONSE: It should be GA28-14 and is located in the same corridor, GA00-14, as GA24-14. It is the door to the new Biomed closet. Are there other doors requiring access control that are not indicated in the Division 8 specifications? RESPONSE: No new doors require access control at this time, however, door GA14C-03 will use hardware set B01-1 instead of B03-6 reducing the total number of doors with access control by 1.
Are there specific Software House models of panels are required by the facility? RESPONSE: Current panels are wall mount iStar 16 Panels.
Does the facility have sufficient licensing for these additions? RESPONSE: Yes. - AND OR - What is the current Software House license level and how many readers are currently in use?
Where in each building are the existing access control panels located? RESPONSE: See construction drawing set. Are there available reader, inputs and outputs on each existing panel in the associated areas for the new doors? RESPONSE: Awardee to field verify. During the on-site tour we were not allowed to open the existing access control panels. If new panels are required what room number do you want the panels located? RESPONSE: See construction drawing set.
The specifications instruct to match existing type of reader. The facility is currently using HID RP40 readers. Is there a sub-model required, what is the part number? Would they rather use HID’s new SIGNO class reader instead of the older RP40? RESPONSE: No. If you/they don’t know specific model numbers, what functions/credential formats are required? RESPONSE: SN200-82271-24V LNL have the reader, dps, and rex built in.
The Division 8 hardware sets show card reader “BY SECURITY INTEGRATOR.” Does this mean all other hardware is to be provided and installed by the Division 8 supplier? RESPONSE: Yes.
The Division 8 hardware sets show one power supply per door “AQD series.” Please confirm that this is what is wanted. Typically one power supply, sized appropriately will accommodate multiple doors if installed centrally. It is also more cost effective to use one centrally mounted power supply. There are no batteries indicated in the hardware specifications. Will battery backup be required? RESPONSE: Yes, backup batteries required. If required, who is to provide the back up batteries? RESPONSE: Integrator to supply backup batteries. System should use a common (sized appropriately) power supply for all door associated with said panel. To include battery back-up. Power supply per door not required.
Please indicate on the drawings where existing access control panels are currently and to where they will be required to be relocated if required. Please indicate how many current doors of access control are on each of the to be relocated panels. Will junction boxes and splicing of existing access control cabling be allowed for the relocated access control panels? Replacing all existing cabling to doors where the panel is being relocated will greatly increase the installation costs.
RESPONSE: Splicing not allowed. All new doors or relocated doors are to have new cable. If existing cabling can be pulled back to a new door without the need for splicing is allowed.
