About this file
This file is a Questions and Answers document from a previous solicitation (36C25926Q0408) provided as an amendment to the current fire system inspection and repairs solicitation. The document clarifies that this is a new one-year-only contract requirement with no incumbent contractor, and the primary objective is to correct previously identified fire system deficiencies and document repairs for Joint Commission audit compliance, rather than perform ongoing annual testing. Current service providers include Vulcan Fire for monitoring services and Citrine, LLC for backflow preventor services.
The Q&A addresses specific technical details about the VA West Los Angeles Healthcare System fire suppression infrastructure, including confirmation of antifreeze/glycol loops in Buildings 6 and 36, the absence of sprinkler systems in the parking garage (Building 44), and OS&Y valve sizes ranging from 2.5 to 8 inches. Key work requirements include five-year internal piping inspections with photographic documentation, removal of flushing connections and sprinklers at branch line ends, and resolution of network issues in Building 34. The solicitation (36C25926Q0519) requires all offers to be submitted via email to heather.chase2@va.gov no later than 5:00 p.m. MT on June 22, 2026, with attached inspection reports provided to support the bidding process.
