About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for a project to Correct FCA Deficiencies Steam Distribution System at the Hampton VA Medical Center.
The RFI requests information regarding a 2-inch pumped condensate return (PCR) line in Building 15 that is not shown on the project drawings. The government is seeking clarification on whether the 2-inch PCR line ties into the 4-inch PCR and the extent of the work required to replace this line. The response from the contractor, Bancroft, indicates the 2-inch PCR line extends less than 50 feet into the tunnel and continues north as a direct buried pipe to serve other buildings. The scope of work for this project is to replace the 2-inch PCR pipe to match the existing size and route where it exits the tunnel.

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)

RFI NO.: DATE: April 15, 2024 REFERENCE:
REPLY NEEDED BY:
INFORMATION NEEDED:
On both the demo & new plans, there is a 2” pumped condensate return (PCR) line in Bldg. 15 going into the trench along with
3 other lines. MD-100 and M-100 show only 3 lines but not the 2” PCR. Does it tie into the 4” PCR? If not, how far does it go?
Thank you.
REPLY:
Bancroft believes the 2” PCR pipe in question extends less than 50ft into the tunnel then leaves north as a direct buried pipe to serve buildings along Harris Avenue (bldg. 14). The extent of this project work shall be to replace pipe to match existing size and route up where it exits the tunnel.
