ESTABLISHING A CIVIL SOCIETY ANTI-IMPUNITY COMPLAINT PLATFORM
The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a project to implement a project titled "Establishing a Civil Society Anti-Impunity Complaint Platform." The goal of the project is to establish and promote an effective and safe platform for receiving, developing, and referring cases to civil society, independent institutions that play a key role in the fight against corruption, and host country institutions, and to provide citizen education and ultimately reduce corruption-related impunity in El Salvador.

Binational State Attorneys' General Exchange and Training
Under the Merida Initiative, the United States has forged strong partnerships to support Mexico's efforts towards implementation of an oral, adversarial criminal justice system at the federal and state levels. The main goal of this project is to ensure that criminal justice and law enforcement officials are able to work together to successfully prosecute crime and in ways that consistently apply the rule of law across jurisdictions in Mexico and the U.S

South Africa Law Enforcement Investigations for Wildlife Crime
INL seeks to build upon South Africa'™s law enforcement capabilities to combat wildlife crime and their response to wildlife trafficking by (1) building wildlife investigative and law enforcement skills in crime scene management and case management with the aim of increased prosecutions of those higher up in the syndicates; (2) assisting South African law enforcement in conducting more intelligence-driven investigations; and (3) building expertise that will help analyze and map the illicit wildlife trade to increase a proactive approach toward targeting illicit networks. Proposals may encompass any or all of the targets.

Empowering Defense Attorneys, Strengthening Investigative Journalism and Support to the New Constitution Implementation in Uzbekistan
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) is seeking applications for a federal grant opportunity to fund several projects supporting rule of law and justice sector reforms in Uzbekistan. The opportunity includes three 18-month initiatives: the INL Empowering Defense Attorneys Initiative, the INL Investigative Journalism to Combat Corruption, and the INL Supporting New Constitution Implementation. The main goals are to strengthen the capacities and independence of defense attorneys, support investigative journalism to promote transparency and accountability, and facilitate the integration of Uzbekistan's new constitutional framework. Eligible applicants are U.S. and foreign 501(c)(3) non-profit/non-governmental organizations and educational institutions. The application deadline is July 17, 2024. The total funding available is $1,500,000, with individual project awards ranging from $500,000 to $1,500,000. Organizations may submit a single proposal covering all three projects with a unified budget. The anticipated project start date is November 1, 2024, and the place of performance is Uzbekistan.
